Today we had a free morning in Paris! This was our first unstructured morning in a while meaning, no alarms! Many of us used this time to sleep in, explore the city, do laundry, shop, get custom lip gloss, catch up on work, or for Enzo, get a haircut. I grabbed a chocolate croissant, fresh squeezed orange juice and a latte in Rue Cler in the morning and then set out to explore the city!

After our free morning we got ready for the ParisLongchamp race! We took a 25 minute metro where we got off at Michel Ange Auteuill metro station and caught a shuttle to the racing grounds. Waiting for the shuttle we "enjoyed" renditions of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "My Girl" from Matt, Ben and Enzo. They turned the sidewalk into a stage for everyone around. After many bumps in the road (literally) and a few detours we arrived just in time for race number one. I'll be honest though I missed this one because I was in desperate need of food after that bus ride! Many of us got crepes, because you can't go wrong there!

We stayed at Longchamp for all 8 horse races, the most exciting being the Prix Du Bord L'eau where Human Evolution, an Irish horse won the race, but not by much. This race was 2100 m, which is equivalent to 1.3 miles, the winning horse completed this race in 2 minutes and 14 seconds. The longest race was only 2700 m, equivalent to only about 1.6 miles. The longest race was completed in well under 3.5 minutes. What was most shocking to me was how many people ventured out on a Thursday night to spectate horse racing and secondly, how nice the facilities here were! There were many food options and the lines weren't too long either.
