Friday May 23- A Day in Brussels!

On the train to Brussels

We started our journey to Brussels around 10:30 with a quick 20 minute train ride this morning. Once we arrived we then navigated the metro system to arrive at the Atomium where we received a tour and a lesson on the history of the Atomium. When we met our tour guide, he took us in the spheres that were open to the public.

The first sphere wfocused on the history of the Atomium and the 1958 World Fair that was held in Brussels. The second sphere was holding an exhibit featuring a light and music show (which we all loved!). The last sphere was an observation deck where we were able to see an overview of the city.

After we finished at the Atomium, we headed back to the metro where we had a long and busy ride before entering the city. One we got to the city, Dr. Kropp gave us a walking tour of the city where she pointed out important monuments and the significance of each of them.

While on our walking tour we were able to see important buildings like the one above. In addition to the city scape and the oldest park in the country of Belgium, Parc de Bruxelles.

At the end of our walking tour led by Dr. Kropp, we arrived at our next stop for the day, the Choco-Story Musuem. The musuem went through the history of chocate and how it has become what we all love to eat today. Including a live demonstation of how to make chocolates, and the best part, a chocolate tasting! We were all excited when we each recievd a 1lb. bag of chocolate at the end of the tour.

To end off the day we took a short walk down the street to a restaurant, Grimbergen where we spent the evening getting to know each other better and share lots of laughs together. We also enjoyed lots of yummy food, but we definitely enjoyed the laughs together way more.
